Why your jeans waist size is always bigger than what is specified by the brand?

Have you wondered why your jeans waist size is bigger than specified by the brand?

I started buying jeans size 28 few years back and they fitted me well. I was always of the opinion, my waist size is 28 inches. Now i wear 30 size jeans while i actually measure 31.5" on the waist.

Is it not ridiculous? No transparency ?

It is only after a while i realised my waist was 30" and 28" jeans fitted me well. I was wondering why the brands are not sharing the exact waist measurement.

Here is the inside story. When brands say the jeans size is 28" and am really 30", i feel good (they think), jeans size shows i am slimmer than what is so. This is a psychological win brands are trying have over us and feel good. Whether we felt good or not , this is the fact.

This is my jeans from a well known brand measuring 84 cm (32.0 inches) with the label saying 30.

Once i realised this, i got conscious of my real waist size and started work out towards better fitness.

If you always thought your waist size is the size of your bottom, today is awakening !!!

Brands better be authentic and tell consumers what their real sizes are !!!

Should i or should i not try this ?

Is this not a common question when we go for shopping clothing and accessories.

Let me share my journey. In 2002, i used to be a guy dressed in strict formal, i mean, a crisp blue shirt ( used to have only blues of different hues) in the wardrobe, to the extent that my wife used to say " your selection is so boring".. That aside , i am in the fashion business exposed to all sorts of trends. My shirts used to be of comfort fit (bit loose) and liked the comfort.

My bottom used to be pleated trouser ( i resisted exposing my crotch with flat pants ). This is the time i bought a flat front pant and a non blue shirt.

As i started wearing them, started liking them , was looking trimmer.

Good bye to pleats !!! Welcome flat fronts and   jeans. Early days i chose comfort fit jeans easy on the thighs and straight below the knees.

Next level of transformation was slim fit shirts and jeans. From mid rise to low rise. Clean jeans to washed and a bit of torn.

This is a true transformation in my dressing style and i am comfortable.

If you have any doubts like should i or should i not, what i can only say is " give it a try" , you will discover a new "you" the way you look.

After all, can we try this much of experiment in something we carry through the day ?

Have a great day and keep sharing your experiments.

Coming soon ,some  insights on whats in a garment and you will never be the same in choosing the right clothing.
